It’s through mistakes that you actually can grow. You have to get bad in order to get good
— Paula Scher, Partner, Pentagram Design

Oftentimes, the process is more important than the product. Explore different subjects and materials within a workout. Give yourself permission to make mistakes and to fail. Yes, fail! When we allow ourselves to grow from of our mistakes we make room for new ideas.

What supplies do I need?

Pencils: Choose a range of graphite pencils, from soft (6B) to hard (2H).
Erasers: Some workouts don't require erasers but sometimes they do come in handy. It would be good to pick up a kneaded erasers and a white plastic eraser.
Charcoal: Pick up a few charcoal pencils and a small box of compressed charcoal for the Drawing like Matisse workout.
Fountain Pen: A fountain pen that uses cartridges are quite convenient. Try the disposable fountain pens to see what suits you best before spending the money for an expensive one.
Sketchbook: Your sketchbook should be durable enough to travel with you everyday. Be sure the pages are sturdy enough for applying dry brush watercolor.

Other Options: A range of colored pencils, a bottle of India Ink, bamboo skewers, a long wooden dowel, a variety of papers (newsprint, larger drawing paper), watercolor paints and watercolor brushes are also recommended.
